There are many similarities between the American Revolution and the French Revolution. Great Britain had taxed America, and the Americans wanted to get out of that. Great Britain was also influenced in part by the Enlightenment. The French Revolution resulted from conflict between Monarchy and nobility over tax reform. The American revolution inspired the French and they wanted to end French monarchy permanently.

Louis XVI voted for the execution in the French revolution. His cousin was also a supporter. He was still executed even though his family was more liberal than him. The French Revolution and American Revolution have many similarities. Both sought change in their governments and economic circumstances. They wanted to escape from the British taxes that they had imposed on America. The French political economy was facing serious economic problems. Without the approval of the government, no product or export was allowed. Both France and America were dissatisfied with their economic and government systems, so a Revolution was initiated. The reign terror was not a feature of the American revolution. The American Revolution was not fought for an abstract, which is one of the main differences to the French Revolution. Both revolutions were started in the same way, and they both ended in different ways. Although they might have had the same motives, both wars were started by different people. The one war was started by people from different classes but clearly led by the upper class. Lower-class caused the other. The French had a very wealthy upper and middle classes. The Third Estate was growing bitter and resentful towards the other Estates, resulting in the Revolution. The American Revolution was the result of dissatisfaction with the British’s rule over the American people.

The Marquis de Lafayette’s 1789 “Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen” was one of the most important documents of the French Revolution. The Treaty of Paris was the final peace agreement in the American Revolution. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen describes a variety of rights including freedom of religion and speech. Because it recognized American independence and ended the revolution, the Treaty of Paris was important. The American Revolution could have continued without Paris’ Treaty of Paris.

The American Revolution may have been more successful overall. The French revolution had a greater impact. Both revolutions got almost everything they requested. Economic stability and governments may also have improved.
