This set of six Forensic science projects is available to bundle and save! Forensics Careers, True Crime reading and Processing a Crime Scene are some of the topics. Students can also create their own miniature crime scenes as a culminating activity. There are many styles of projects: literature, modeling or research. There are projects for individuals, couples and groups!

All projects include complete instructions, a Teaching Guide, as well as Rubrics.

This bundle contains all of Science of Curiosity’s forensic science projects! Additional projects will be added to this project if they are available. Teachers who already have the product purchased at no additional cost!

NOTICE – This is not an expanding bundle. While I do know when more projects will be added, I cannot guarantee that they will. The current products are the only basis for this bundle’s cost.

Below are the estimated time for each project in my classroom. This is based on an 85-minute class period, five days per week (Block schedule).

1. Forensic Science Careers Project. Create a Digital Poster.
This project is quick and easy for students in Forensic Science. There is no prep! You can choose any topic that interests you, and it could be a career option for you.

The list includes 28 careers in Forensic Sciences. Students can choose from the available options. Following the 100 point checklist, they create a Google Slide digital slide poster.

Individuals are the best people to complete this project. You can complete it in one day, with enough time to display the posters.

2. Presenting a True Crime Book as a Semester Project in Forensic Science
Forensic Science Project – Students will read True Crime books, then present about the case. This is a great way of increasing literacy in your Forensic Sci class.

My students love this book!

Each person will complete this project. This project can be completed in a few weeks or months, even a semester. It takes only 15-20 minutes per day.

3. Forensic Science: Crime Scene Processing How to Video Project
Students will have fun creating a Forensics Criminal Scene Video Project. This is a great way to share their knowledge on how to collect evidence, document crime scenes, and process them. The Crime Scene will be created by student groups. Next, they will take on the role as CSI experts. The goal of their How-To videos is to show new CSI students the proper way to process a crime site.

The group of 4-5 is required to complete this project. The project takes about a week, and they have to share their videos.

4. Forensics Project: DNA Evidence Importance
This Forensics Project highlights the power DNA testing can provide as evidence. This project will provide students with the opportunity to learn about The Innocence Project’s work, a non profit group that helps prisoners wrongfully held.

Most exonerations result from post-conviction DNA screening, which was not available during the trial. The Innocence Project searches for evidence and tests it for DNA. If DNA is not found to match that of the convicted person, then they must be innocent.

The Innocence Project website will be used by students to help them learn more about their topic and the strategies to prevent wrongful convictions. They also have the opportunity to see a case of someone wrongfully convicted because of their topic. The class will be able to view the slides created by students using Google Slides.

The project can be completed in groups of three or two. The entire project takes around a week to complete. There are also presentations that need to be made.

5. Forensic Explosives Evidence NOTES + Project + Testing! No prior preparation needed
This digital resource will help you teach your students about explosive evidence and forensics. The guidebook allows students to explore explosives and the five types. Students will then research a specific bombing incident.

This project is best done in groups of two or three. The project takes around three days (not including the learning portion with notes and time for presentations).

Mini Crime Scene Model

This is one of my favourite projects! My students enjoy it immensely and create incredible work.

Students are required to create a true crime story using the rubric.
They create a mini murder scene to represent what it would look like if they were actually convicted. The CSI would then describe the crime scene they have created. You must draw the scene and take photographs.

PowerPoint is the best format for all information and evidence. This allows classmates to better understand the crime scene. The rubric also requires that evidence be provided of the death and time of the victim.

You can do this project in pairs or individually. The project takes approximately two weeks to complete and allows for time for the students to display their work.
